Update of Plavix® (clopidogrel) label

Due to further study results, changes have been made to the ‘Drug interactions’ section of the US Plavix® (clopidogrel) SPC.“Avoid concomitant use of Plavix with omeprazole or esomeprazole… Consider using another acid-reducing agent with minimal or no CYP2C19 inhibitory effect on the formation of clopidogrel active metabolite. Reflux Inter-Action – learn PPI interactions interactively

Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are used extensively. In practice there appears to be little difference among the PPIs in clinical efficacy at equivalent doses and thus their individual propensities for metabolic drug interactions become important factors to consider in prescribing decisions.Use this fun but comprehensive tool to test out your knowledge. Visit our interactive waiting room and see which patients are suited to which PPI.
